SOME BASIC PRAYERS
The Creed
. We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth of all that is seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, one in Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us men and our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered, died, and was buried. On the third day he rose again in fulfillment of the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshipped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. AmenOur Father Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil Amen
The Hail Mary - Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen
Hail, Holy Queen - Hail, holy Queen, Mother of Mercy! Our life, our sweetness, and our hope! To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve, to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley, of tears. Turn, then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us; and after this our exile show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb Jesus; O clement, O loving, O sweet virgin Mary. Amen
Act of Contrition
- O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended you, and I detest all my sins, because of Your just punishments, but most of all because they offend You, my God, who are all-good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Your grace, to sin no more and to avoid the near occasion of sin. AmenGlory be to the Father - Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

The Nine First Fridays
Devotions to the Sacred Heart - The promises of The Sacred Heart of Jesus to Saint Margaret Mary (1647-1690): ""I promise you, in the excessive mercy of my Heart that my all powerful love will grant to all those who receive Holy Communion on the first Friday for nine consecutive months, the grace of final repentance; they shall not die in my disgrace nor without receiving tile sacraments; my divine Heart shall be their safe refuge in that last moment."
Conditions required:
To make nine Holy Communions;
on the first Friday of the month (confession required within eight days);
for nine consecutive months, without interruption;
with the proper disposition;
with the intention of making reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and to obtain the fruit of this great promise.
Many are the promises that the Sacred Heart of Jesus has made to His Servant St. Margaret Mary, in favor of His devoted ones, as is evident from her writings. The principal ones are as follows:
I will give them all the graces necessary for their state of life.
I will give peace in their families.
I will console them in all their troubles.
I will he their refuge in life and especially in death.
I will abundantly bless all their undertakings.
Sinners shall find in my Heart the source and infinite ocean of mercy.
Tepid souls shall become fervent.
Fervent souls shall rise speedily to great perfect ion
I will bless those places wherein the image of my Sacred heart shall be exposed and venerated.
I will give to priests the power to touch the most hardened hearts.
Persons who propagate this devotion shall have their names eternally written in my Heart.
In the excess of the mercy of my heart, I promise you that my all powerful love will grant to all those who will receive Communion on the First Fridays, for nine consecutive months, the grace of final repentance: they will not die in my displeasure, nor without receiving the sacraments; and my Heart will be their secure refuge in that last hour.
The First Five Saturdays of the Month
The great promise of Our Lady of Fatima
The Blessed Virgin appeared to Lucy on 13 June 1917, at Fatima, giving her the great mission of propagating the devotion of the first five Saturdays of the month, making known her "Great Promise.'' Our Lady showed her heart, saying:
"...Behold my heart in the midst of thorns that ungrateful persons, at every instant, press on it with their blasphemy and ingratitude. At least you console me, and tell all men that I promise to help, in the hour of death, with the graces necessary for salvation, whoever the first Saturday of each month for five consecutive months will go to confession, receive Holy Communion, say five decades of the rosary and keep me company for fifteen minutes, meditating the mysteries of the rosary, with the intention of making reparation to me."
Conditions required:
Confession (within eight days). Holy Communion.
Recitation of a third part of the rosary (five decades).
Fifteen minutes of meditation on the mysteries.
Five consecutive months without interruption.
These five first Saturdays must be made with the intention of making reparation to console the Immaculate Heart of Mary, saddened by the indifference and ingratitude of so many, in a spirit of humility and sorrow for sins.
Prayer to Saint Joseph - To thee, O Blessed Joseph, we have recourse in our tribulations, and while imploring the aid of thy most holy Spouse, we confidently invoke thy patronage also. By that love which united thee to the Immaculate Virgin, Mother of God, and by the fatherly affection with which thou didst embrace the Infant Jesus, we humbly beseech thee graciously to regard the inheritance which Jesus Christ purchased with His Blood and to help us in our necessities, by thy powerful intercession. Protect, I most provident Guardian of the Holy Family, the chosen children of Jesus Christ; ward off from us, O most loving Father, all taint of error and corruption; graciously assist us from Heaven, O most power protector, in our struggle with the powers of darkness; and as thou didst once rescue the Child Jesus from imminent peril to His life, so now defend the Holy Church of God from the snares of her enemies and from all adversity. Shield each one of us with thy unceasing patronage that, imitating thy example and sported by thy aid, we may be enabled to live a good life, die a holy death, and secure everlasting happiness in Heaven. Amen.
Prayer for the Souls in Purgatory
Memorare Prayer to Our Lady - Indulgences
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that any one who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession, was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother! To thee I come; before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.
Refugium peccatorum, Ora pro nobis - Say the Hail Mary
Consolatrix afflictorum, Ora pro nobis - Say the Hail Mary
Auxilium Christianorum, Ora pro nobis – Say the Hail Mary

If this prayer is told once a day, for one month, it gives the plenary indulgence for a soul in Purgatory.
Plenary indulgence for the Souls in Purgatory
For ages, millions of pilgrims have been able to obtain remission of punishment due to sins, thanks to St. Francis (usual conditions apply: visit a church so designated with Portiuncula Indulgence on August 2, go to confession, receive Holy Communion and pray for the intentions.
A plenary indulgence, applicable only to the Souls in Purgatory, is granted to the faithful, who on November 2, the day dedicated to the Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed, piously visit a church. In visiting the church it is required that one Our Father and the Creed be recited. As usual, to acquire a plenary indulgence it is necessary also to fulfill the following three conditions: sacramental Confession, Eucharistic communion, and prayer for the intention of the Holy Father. The three conditions may be fulfilled several days before or after the performance of the visit; it is, however, fitting that communion be received and the prayer for the intention of the Holy Father be said on the same day as the visit.
THE ROSARY - Praying the Rosary properly means combining meditation with vocal prayer. This is what makes the Holy Rosary such a spiritually rewarding experience. Each Mystery of the Rosary focuses the worshiper's attention on a major event in the lives of Jesus Christ and His Blessed Mother, the Virgin Mary. There are 15 Mysteries in all, ordered chronologically into three sets: the five Joyful Mysteries: (Mondays and Thursdays. Also Sundays in Advent; the five Sorrowful Mysteries: (Tuesdays and Fridays. Also Sundays in Lent); and the five Glorious Mysteries: (Wednesdays, Saturdays, and ordinary Sundays
Monday (Joyful) - Tuesday (Sorrowful) - Wednesday (Glorious) - Thursday (Joyful) - Friday (Sorrowful) - Saturday and Sunday (Glorious)
